This post is going to be quite quick because I really haven't been too adventurous in the kitchen lately. I've been enjoying my break from school, and I have been making quite a few batches of fun recipes I've already blogged about like soft pretzels and such. I even made brownies from a box- blasphemy!! The boxed brownies really can't be beat, so it was all good.

One thing I've been meaning to make, just cause it's so easy, is homemade applesauce. All I did was buy a 5lb bag of apples (any kind you like), peeled and diced them, and threw them in the slow cooker. I added a little bit of water (maybe 1/2 cup), and hefty sprinkling of vanilla sugar, brown sugar, and two cinnamon sticks luckily given to me by my mother-in-law at Christmas! What a fun addition that was. Sooo...I let them cook on low for about eight hours I believe, until the apples were soft and broken down. I wish my kitchen could have stayed smelling like applesauce forever. I took my trusty hand blender and and blended the apples until an applesauce was created. And that was it!
Now, it made a good amount but for $5 for the apples, I could have paid $2.50 at Target for applesauce of the same amount. So really, if you're looking to be economical, stick with the store bought. But if you want the yummy, homemade, easy as pie goodness...start peeling!
